Juliet’s House

Juliet’s House, or Casa di Giulietta, is a small museum in a medieval townhouse just off Via Cappello in Verona’s historic centre. Its stone balcony overlooks a courtyard where visitors gather around a bronze statue of Juliet. Inside, rooms furnished with period pieces and decorative objects offer a glimpse of a prosperous Veronese home, alongside displays connected to Romeo and Juliet.

The house’s connection to Shakespeare’s heroine is a product of storytelling rather than documented history. It belonged to the Dal Cappello family, whose name suggested a link to the fictional Capulets, and the now-famous balcony was added in the 1930s using older stonework. The courtyard statue is a replica; the original is kept inside the museum. Together, they show how Verona turned a literary legend into a landmark.

The courtyard can get crowded, so visit near opening time or later in the day for a calmer experience. Check current opening hours and book museum tickets online in advance, especially in peak season. The house is an easy walk from Piazza delle Erbe, making it simple to combine with a stroll through Verona’s old town.
