Accorsi–Ometto Museum of Decorative Arts

The Accorsi–Ometto Museum of Decorative Arts is a small museum on Turin’s arcaded Via Po, where rooms arranged as period interiors make a visit feel closer to exploring a collector’s home than a conventional gallery. It grew from the collection of Pietro Accorsi, a Turin antiques dealer and connoisseur, and was enriched through the Fondazione Accorsi-Ometto.

Furniture, porcelain, ceramics, clocks, textiles and paintings trace changing tastes from the 16th to the 19th centuries. The collection is particularly revealing on the decorative arts of Piedmont and the culture of the Savoy capital. Look for the intricate cabinetmaking associated with Pietro Piffetti, whose inlaid furniture captures the virtuosity of 18th-century Turin.

Allow an hour or two to appreciate the details without rushing. Check the museum’s official website for current opening times and guided-tour or booking arrangements before visiting. It is an easy walk from Piazza Castello or Piazza Vittorio Veneto, with Via Po’s arcades providing welcome shelter along the way.
