Schlossplatz, or Palace Square, is Stuttgart’s largest central square and a natural starting point for exploring the city. Its lawns, fountains and broad paths face the Baroque New Palace, once a residence of Württemberg’s rulers. The square’s centrepiece is the Jubilee Column, erected in 1841 to mark 25 years of King Wilhelm I’s reign.
