Vitosha Boulevard

Vitosha Boulevard — known locally as Vitoshka — is Sofia's main pedestrian artery and the closest thing the city has to a living room. Stretching roughly 1.5 kilometres from the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in the south up toward the city centre, it's lined with a mix of European chain stores, Bulgarian boutiques, caffè-style restaurants, and outdoor terraces that fill the moment the sun decides to cooperate. The boulevard takes its name from the mountain that frames the southern skyline, and on a clear day you can look up from your coffee and see Vitosha's forested ridgeline hovering above the rooftops — a reminder that this is a city where wilderness and urban life genuinely coexist.
