Parco Sempione is Milan's answer to Central Park — 47 hectares of English-style landscaped greenery tucked behind the Castello Sforzesco, where the city's medieval fortress grounds were transformed into a public park in the 1888. Designed by Emilio Alemagna, the park feels genuinely wild by Milanese standards: winding paths disappear into groves of trees, a small lake reflects the sky, and the neoclassical Arco della Pace anchors the far end of the axis like a full stop on a long sentence. It's one of the few places in central Milan where you can genuinely lose your bearings for a moment, which feels like a minor miracle in such a tightly gridded city.
