Fort Lovrijenac stands on a 37-metre cliff just west of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, guarding the approach to the city from the Adriatic. Often called St Lawrence Fortress, it is one of Dubrovnik’s most striking landmarks and a symbol of the former Republic of Ragusa’s determination to remain independent.
