Dubai Miracle Garden is exactly what it sounds like and somehow still manages to exceed expectations — a 72,000-square-metre explosion of living colour planted in the middle of the desert, where over 150 million flowers are arranged into archways, castle turrets, a full-scale Emirates A380, and walls of cascading blooms that would look excessive even in the rainiest corner of England. That it exists at all feels like a minor act of defiance against logic: this is one of the driest cities on earth, and yet from November to May, an army of horticulturists keeps the whole spectacle in full, improbable bloom. It opened in 2013 and has expanded steadily every season since, with new installations added annually to keep repeat visitors coming back.
