The Dubai Frame is exactly what it sounds like — a colossal picture frame standing 150 metres tall in Zabeel Park, purpose-built to frame two very different versions of the same city. Look south through the glass floor sky bridge and you see Old Dubai: the low-rise tangle of Deira and Bur Dubai, the Creek, the minarets. Look north and the glass-and-steel skyline of modern Dubai fills the opposite panel. It sounds gimmicky on paper, and plenty of locals will admit they rolled their eyes when it opened in 2018. In person, it's surprisingly affecting — the concept actually works, and works well.
