The Golden Rider (Goldener Reiter) is Dresden’s most recognizable monument: a gilded equestrian statue of Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland. It stands on Neustädter Markt, just north of the Elbe and a short walk across Augustus Bridge from the historic old town.
