Széchenyi Thermal Bath is a sprawling Neo-Baroque bathhouse in Budapest’s City Park, its sun-yellow walls framing steaming outdoor pools. Opened in 1913, it remains one of the city’s best-known places to experience Hungary’s longstanding bathing culture.
The appeal is as much social as restorative: locals and visitors soak beneath the open sky, sometimes playing chess at the edge of the water. Inside are more thermal pools and saunas, while the outdoor pools are especially atmospheric on a cold day. The grand architecture makes Széchenyi worth seeing even if you come mainly for a long soak.
