Seminyak Beach is a long sweep of grey-gold sand on Bali’s southwestern coast, where Indian Ocean waves roll in beside a well-established strip of hotels, restaurants and beach clubs. More polished than neighbouring Kuta, it draws a mix of surfers, families and sunset-watchers, with plenty of room to walk even when the bars are busy.
The beach is part of a coastline that has changed dramatically as tourism expanded north from Kuta, turning the former village of Seminyak into one of Bali’s best-known resort areas. Alongside the stylish venues, you’ll still find local vendors and quieter stretches where the main attraction is the view across the water.
Come in the late afternoon for a walk and stay for sunset, when beanbag bars set up on the sand and the sky often turns spectacular. The surf can be powerful and currents unpredictable, so swim only where conditions are safe and heed lifeguard flags and local advice. Beach access is public; you don’t need to book a beach club, though traffic around Seminyak can make the journey slower than expected.
