Baku Boulevard, also known as the Seaside National Park, is a broad waterfront promenade tracing Baku Bay on the Caspian Sea. Shaded paths, gardens and cafés make it a place for a stroll, with views across the water and back toward the city’s distinctive skyline.
First laid out in 1909, the boulevard has grown alongside Baku, from its early oil-boom years through successive reinventions of the waterfront. It remains a much-loved public gathering place: families walk here in the evening, friends meet over tea, and visitors come to see the city at a more leisurely pace.
Along the route, look for the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, with its rolled-carpet-shaped building, and Little Venice, a network of small canals and bridges. The Baku Eye observation wheel offers a different perspective on the bay, while the promenade itself is worth visiting for its gardens and sea air.
Come in the late afternoon or evening for softer light and a livelier atmosphere; summer days can be hot, and the waterfront is often windy. The boulevard is free to enter, though individual attractions charge admission. Its long paths are best explored in comfortable shoes, and Sahil metro station is a convenient starting point.
