The Avenues Bahrain is one of the Gulf's more thoughtfully designed retail and leisure destinations, sitting in the Manama suburb of Sanabis and drawing both residents and visitors who've grown tired of the kingdom's older, more chaotic malls. Opened in 2008 and significantly expanded since, it borrows the open-air boulevard concept pioneered by its Kuwaiti sister property and translates it to Bahrain's climate with covered walkways, a central galleria spine, and a genuine mix of international brands alongside regional and local retailers. The result feels less like a conventional mall and more like a planned urban district — which, in a country still figuring out its public spaces, makes it genuinely refreshing.
