Rising from the desert scrubland of Sakhir, about 30 kilometres south of Manama, the Bahrain International Circuit is one of the most technically demanding and visually dramatic motorsport venues on earth. Built in just 18 months and opened in 2004, it was the first Formula 1 circuit in the Middle East, and its arrival signalled the region's broader ambition to compete on the global sporting stage. The track was designed by Hermann Tilke, who shaped the layout to exploit the natural undulations of the desert plateau, and its sand-coloured pit complex — styled to evoke traditional Bahraini architecture — has become one of the most recognisable in the F1 calendar. The Circuit has also hosted MotoGP, the FIA World Endurance Championship, and various national racing series, making it genuinely multi-discipline in its appeal.
