Rising from the desert at Sakhir, Bahrain International Circuit is the home of the Bahrain Grand Prix and one of the Middle East’s best-known motorsport venues. Its sand-coloured pit buildings and floodlit track make a striking setting for racing, particularly after sunset.
Opened in 2004, the circuit hosted the first Formula 1 Grand Prix in the Middle East. German designer Hermann Tilke created a track known for its long straights, heavy braking zones and changeable desert conditions. Beyond Formula 1, the venue also stages endurance racing and regional motorsport events.
You don’t need to attend a Grand Prix to appreciate the circuit: tours and driving experiences can offer a closer look at the track and its facilities when available. Check the official calendar and book ahead, as access varies around race meetings and private events.
The circuit is roughly 30 kilometres south of Manama; a rental car or taxi is the simplest way to get there. For daytime visits, bring water and sun protection, especially in the hotter months.
